Chelsea Moe-Jackson
The idea for Hackmore first came to me in Grade 4, when I couldn’t find breeches that fit properly or were cool. My 9-year-old crazy horsegirl self called the idea Muckers.
As a lifelong Horsegirl, current Stunt Performer, and ex-Collegiate NCAA Soccer player, I can say that I truly (intimately) understand how important it is to have proper fitting and functioning gear. It is an absolute non-negotiable.
I have never felt a pull towards competing; horses have always been my haven, my escape, and my therapists. The sound of the hoofbeats on the pavement. The twitch of your horse under the saddle getting rid of a pesky fly. That certain smell of your horse's coat in the summer; earthy, sweet, musk. Watching your horse’s ears as they alert you to that bird that just landed 20 yards to your right. It’s magic. Being able to share time with these beautiful animals is such a privilege. My hope is to encourage riders of every discipline to go for a hack more often, take it all in, and just be present.
I am now 32, and I still had never truly found breeches with that perfect fit, that didn't gape or slide down. And jeans have always felt so restricting to me in the saddle (due to my soccer thighs).
Poor fitting gear literally pulls you out of the moment. And horses are magic. So we can't have that!
So I set out to make the perfect riding pants. And I did. Turns out it’s not just one pant. It’s three.
